What if God took a day off?

How many times do we stop and think about all that God does for us every single day?

God gives to us every thing that we need to exist in this life. One afternoon a man came home from work to find total mayhem in the house.

His three children were outside still in their pajamas playing in the mud. The door to his wife’s car was wide open as was the front door to the house.

When he steps inside the house, the lamp had been knocked over and broken. The TV was loudly blarring on the cartoon channel.

He goes in the kitchen and the sink was filled with dirty dishes. Food was all over the counter and dog food was spilled all over the floor.

He quickly heads up stairs, stepping over toys and piles of cloths, looking for his wife. He was afraid that she had become ill or maybe something seriously had happened to her.

He looked at his wife and ask, “What happened in here today?”

She smiled and answered, “You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I did today?”

The husband sheepishly answered, “Yes.” The wife answered, “Well today I didn’t do it!”

We often take for granted those things that others do for us and sometimes it takes their absence for us to appreciate all that they do for us.

Now, just stop and think. What if God were to take the day off?

In Acts 17:28, the Bible tells us, “For in Him we live and move and have our very being.” This represents what God does for us every day whether we are aware of it or not. We better hope that God never decides to take a day off!
